The prestigious Cincho Awards 2022 International Contest has just published the final list of winning cheeses. You can find them on the following link: https://www.premioscincho.com/premiados
- The competition awarded: 59 cheeses in the gold category (three of them as Grand Gold) and a total of 50 in the silver category.
- Zamora was the most awarded province in Castilla y León with a total of 7 gold and 6 silver medals.
The International Cincho Awards Contest in its 2022 edition has broken the attendance record since a total of 1,375 different entries arrived from all over Spain and from another twenty countries, thus completing a great participation with more than 100 award winners.
In the most important category, the Contest awarded a total of 3 cheeses with the Great Gold Cincho, 56 with the Gold Cincho and 50 with the Silver Cincho. Two special prizes were also awarded to the Best Spanish Sheep Cheese and the Best Artisan Cheese of Castilla y León, the region that received the highest number of awards.
The three Great Gold Cincho, prizes, awarded to the three best-scoring cheeses in the Contest, went to the following cheeses:
- CCL Campoveja Corteza Lavada, by Queseria Campoveja (Heirs to Felix Sanz S.L.), in Valladolid.
- Medium-hard cheese R chm, by Rueda Cheesemonger S.L., in Valladolid.
- Cropwell Bishop, entered by Ardai S.L.U., a UK Company.
In addition, two Special Prizes at the Cincho 2022 Awards went to the following cheeses:
- Best Spanish Sheep Cheese: 1949 Oveja, by Quesos Feijoo S.L.
- Best Artisan Cheese of Castilla y León: Queso Quevedo, by Quesos Quevedo S.L.
CONSOLIDATION OF THE CONTEST
The analytical verification of all the participating products has been carried out by the technical teams of the Agricultural Technological Institute of Castilla y León (ITACYL) on the composition of the milk-producing species, in order to guarantee and offer rigour to the Contest. This ensures and certifies that the Cincho Awards establishes the quality in the category and composition of the cheeses.
Thanks to the large participation above mentioned , there have been entries from all the Spanish autonomous communities and an international participation from twenty countries: Andorra, Argentina, Croatia, Ecuador, the United States, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland and Venezuela. This has also been a milestone in the history of this celebration.
CELEBRATION AND AWARDS CEREMONY
The Awards Ceremony will take place in September in the cheese capital of Zamora.
